Let it snow

It snowed a bunch in Buffalo. So.. we spent most of our time indoors enjoying time with the family.

Bubble wrap

James is more excited about the packaging than the presents. Typical baby.

James the Jumperoo

Over the past month, James has had some exciting times. He's turned over a few more times, and still loves to spend time on his belly. He also started to play in a jumper-saucer at daycare. We decided to get a jumper for him at home too, and picked up a Fisher Price Rainforest Jumperoo last weekend. James jumps and jumps, delighting in the colorful toys, lights and music.

He's also started to laugh at funny noises and being surprised. In the movie here, Gemma is surprising James by appearing in front of him and he giggles, a lot. We're sure he'll get a lot of playtime out of his jumper.

Incidentally, a few hours after we posted that video James rolled over! He did it twice in a row and he was pretty surprised to be on his back afterwards. Mom and Dad went to get the camera to film the third time, but James decided that he was tired of rolling over already. He decided to spit up all over the blanket instead. Maybe he got motion sickness.

Night-scapades

James is quite the energetic one at 4AM! (See the video). Here James has tired his Mom out so much that she fell asleep with him in her arms.

Chris and Amy visit

Uncle Chris and Auntie Amy came all the way to CT from D.C. to visit James. James is trying to eat Chris here. He may have been a bit hungry.

Grandpa McManus visits

James and Grandpa McManus.

Whoa! What's that!?

James and his "Whoa! What is that!?" look on his face.

Bathtime

James took a bath and cried a bit, so we wrapped him up in his bath towel and gave him his binky. So cute!!

Sleeping cutie

We asked James how old he was. He responded by saying "I'm one month old now, Mom and Dad!" and he stuck his little finger out.

James gets the hiccups

James has been doing just great! At his two week doctors appointment we found out that he had gained a whopping 1 pound and two ounces in just one week! He's grown out of his first set of tiny onesies and has now graduated to the small 0-3 month outfits. Today after eating and taking a bath, James got the hiccups (see movie).

Hanging Around

James is coming along really well. He still enjoys sleeping, eating, and uhm, making a bit of mess for mommy and daddy. Today he had his first full bath at home, in his little tub. He only fussed a little bit, which is good for your first time being splashed all over.

Lately it seems like James favorite activity is cuddling. He'll fall asleep in just about any position when he's being held. Here he's sawing logs on Grandma May's arm, happy as can be :). He also likes sleeping in his "Moses Basket".

Homecoming

James and Gemma came home from the hospital Friday. His first car ride went really smoothly and we think he likes being strapped in, snug in his car seat.

Friday night, Gemma's parents and brother Ian came to visit and see their grandson. James enjoyed being held by Grandpa May and was very peaceful with him.

Sleep Deprivation

James's appetite is very strong. He likes to eat every 2-3 hours, all night long. So by today, Gemma and I were very, very tired. But he eats fairly quickly and falls asleep as soon as his tummy is full (below). Also, it seems he has found his eating rhythm, so we should be able to sleep a bit more tonight.

New Arrival

On Wednesday, June 25 at 6:38 pm, James Ian McManus made his grand entry into the world! James weighed in at 7 lb 2 oz, 20 inches in height/length and has an adorable little button nose. Although his current interests are limited to eating, sleeping (see the video) and grasping fingers, we're sure there's a lot more in store for him in the future.

Gemma performed wonderfully during the delivery and she is recovering peacefully at Yale New Haven Hospital with James by her side.

We thank all our friends and family for their support and encouragement!
